Facilities & Instrumentation

 

The Water Management Experimental Centre is equipped with a wide range of devices and instruments required for the construction of physical hydraulic models. A comprehensive set of measuring instruments and apparatus for the measurement of physical parameters is also available.

 

  1. Testing and Experimental Facilities
    • Hydraulic measuring flume (W = 1 m, H = 1 (2) m, L = 9 m, Qmax = 350 l/s)
    • Hydraulic measuring flume (W = 1 m, H = 1 m, L = 4 m, Qmax = 300 l/s)
    • Tilting hydraulic measuring flume (W = 1.5 m, H = 0.6 m, L = 8 m, Qmax = 150 l/s, max. slope 15°)
    • Hydraulic measuring flume (W = 0.5 m, H = 0.65 m, L = 8.5 m, Qmax = 200 l/s)
    • Hydraulic measuring flume (W = 0.25 m, H = 0.5 m, L = 8 m, Qmax = 50 l/s)
    • Tilting hydraulic measuring flume (W = 0.2 m, H = 0.2 m, L = 8 m, Qmax = 20 l/s, max. slope 20°)
    • Laboratory rainfall simulator (operated by the Department of Landscape Water Conservation, link)
    • Pelton turbine test facility (operated by the Department of Hydraulic Engineering)

    • Water depth measurement system (set of ultrasonic probes, measuring range 0.5–4.0 m)
    • Flow measurement system (set of electromagnetic flow meters DN 25–DN 400)
    • Ultrasonic clamp-on flowmeters (Krohne OPTISONIC 6300 P, UFM 610P)
    • Velocity measurement system (current meters and micro-propellers, ultrasonic velocimeters)
    • Pressure measurement set (differential pressure gauges, pressure probes)
